Bill Pay Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Current Bill Pay Users Ask

Why does Bill Pay have a different look?
Red River Bank's Bill Pay site was improved to be more convenient and to give more information on the home page screen.  There is a calendar showing all your scheduled payments and the calendar is color coded to show the days on which payments can be scheduled.
What is this "bar" that keeps dropping to the bottom of the screen in Bill Pay?
This "bar" is a convenient way of adding a new payee and to see the total of all payments that you are scheduling during a single session.  The bar stays at the bottom of your screen as you navigate through the Bill Pay home page.
Am I still going to receive my E-Bills?
If you were formerly enrolled to receive your bill electronically through Bill Pay, you will need to re-enroll with the merchant.  Just click on the symbol Bil Pay Symbol by the merchant's name and complete the merchant's enrollment form.
Can I pay an individual electronically?
Yes.  If you have the person's bank routing number and account number, you may pay an individual electronically.
Are all my payees included on this new screen?
Yes, unless you have inactive payees.  A payee becomes inactive after 12 months of no payment being sent to the payee.  Inactive payees drop out of Bill Pay.

Red River Bank has what is called a "single sign-on".  Your OnLine Banking password will be the only password needed to get to Bill Pay.  Sign on to OnLine Banking, click on Bill Pay, and be taken straight into Bill Pay service.
Are payments paid electronically or by check?
The method of payment for each individual payee depends upon the capabilities of that payee. Most of the larger payees, such as credit card and utility companies, have the ability to receive electronic payments, which is faster and more efficient. Payees that are not capable of receiving electronic payments, such as day care providers or your landlord, are paid by check. This method is efficient, but takes a little more time to process.
How many days in advance should I pay my bills?
Payments made electronically can be transmitted 2 business days prior to the due date or by check which is mailed 5 business days before the due date. The payment method depends upon the payment method accepted by the merchant.
How many bills can I pay each month with Bill Pay?
The number of bills you can pay free of charge is unlimited.
What types of bills can I pay?
You can pay any vendor in the United States excluding government agencies and parish, state and property taxes.
Can I pay an individual?
Yes. You may pay an individual by check or, if you have the person's bank routing number and account number, you may pay an individual electronically.
What is an E-Bill?
Instead of a paper bill, an electronic bill can be provided by a vendor through OnLine Banking and is called an E-Bill.
How do I know if the merchant can send me an E-Bill?
Bill Pay will place a Bill Pay Symbol symbol beside each bill that can be received electronically.  All you have to do is click on the symbol and complete the merchant's form.
What if I enter incorrect merchant information?
It is VERY IMPORTANT that you enter your information accurately. A wrong address may result in a payment not being received by your merchant by the designated due date. Also, a wrong account number could result in the payment being posted to the wrong account.
