Whenever you connect to the Internet, never give information out to anyone you are not absolutely sure needs to have that information. A good rule of thumb is that reputable companies will never ask you to verify information using email. If a company is asking you to provide any piece of identification via an email campaign, it is either a phishing attempt or a very irresponsible business that is soon to be identified and reported for phishing.
